Meaning “sleep peacefully” in Swahili, Lala Salama is the perfect name for our decaf offering.
This sparkling water decaf comes to us from three washing stations:
Gitwe, while providing some of the most revered lots, is the smallest in the region. Blessed with being almost 2000masl, Gitwe sits at the top of a mountain valley just 3km from Gatare in the Karambi sector, and is named for the land it sits upon. The station has 6 full time staff, with the addition of 50 more during the season, and 90% of these are women
Gitega Hills sits 12km from nearby Bwenda station, and employs exclusively from the local community. 1040 farmers contribute to the stations output, each growing just 400 trees
Gishyita, in the Karongi district, was built in 2010, and like Gitwe, only has 6 full time staff and 80 seasonal workers, 90% of whom are women. 995 local farmers contribute to the station’s output of almost 842 tons of cherry per year, and are provided with compost from the station, utilising the cherry pulp from the washing process
